Referee fancy dress has to be one of the easiest costumes to put together.

Look at any picture of an English soccer referee and you’ll see basically the same thing; black shorts, black and white striped t-shirt, white knee length socks, and of course the obligatory whistle worn around the neck.A lot of guys already have some of these basic items in their wardrobe, but if not they can be bought very cheaply in charity or thrift shops. It is also easy to pick up a cheap pair of shorts and a t-shirt in many low cost high street stores. The stainless steel referee whistle can be obtained from a sports shop and should not cost more than a few dollars.  Footwear is simple, just about everybody has a pair of trainers in their wardrobe already. If not, they can be bought cheaply in shoe shops or online.

Referee fancy dress isn’t just for guys though. Quite often you’ll see women dressed as referees too. The basic outfit is the same with shorts, t-shirt and whistle, but some women prefer to augment the look with high heeled shoes rather than trainers.
