Cleopatra costumes are very popular for fancy dress parties, and most girls would love to dress up as the beautiful Egyptian queen.

One of the most striking things about Cleopatra was her hair, so unless you are lucky enough to have black hair you will need to obtain a wig.Fortunately these can be bought very cheaply from most fancy dress suppliers, and when topped with a meshed headpiece look very glamorous indeed.  Her clothes can be recreated by either buying a Cleopatra dress from a fancy dress company or by wearing a long white dress and tying a wide gold sash around your waist.

To finish off the look you will need sandals and possibly a toy snake to wrap around your shoulders. The stunning eyes can be achieved with a black eye pencil and that’s it, you’re all set.

You also need to practice walking and standing around like a queen.  Once you’re in your costume you’ll find it easy to get into character with the famous arm poses.

Many women like to make the most of their Cleopatra costumes by lounging around on the sofa whilst commanding their slaves to fetch them food and drink. There’s great fun to be had in taking advantage of your costume while your slaves to do all the hard work.
